Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Mowe, Ogun State, Pastor Oluwakayode Olunifesi, has enjoined Christians all over the world to earnestly look towards the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Olunifesi who gave the charge during the annual carol service of his parish, told Newswatch Times that Christmas celebration goes beyond eating and drinking. “Christmas is about the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. Right from time after the fall of Adam, mankind lost out. We saw in the book of John that the word came and dwell among men,” he said, adding that, “What Adam lost, Jesus came to restore. Jesus said, he is the way, the truth and the life, any man that wants to find his way back to God must come through Jesus Christ. Without Jesus coming into the world, we would not have had access to God.”

Speaking further, Olunifesi said, as people celebrate, they should do with understanding of the second coming of Jesus. “We are also awaiting the second coming of this same Jesus, despite that it is lingering, we must not lose focus. It is lingering because God is waiting for more people that would be saved, if Jesus had come years back, people just accepting him today wouldn’t have had that opportunity, he wants more people to come into the kingdom,” he said.

“He said it in John 14 that we should not let our heart be troubled, we should believe in him, in his father’s house, there are many mansions, if it is not so, he wouldn’t have said so. He is going to prepare a place for us. Jesus doesn’t lie, he is coming back, he made it clear he is coming back for his Church without blemish, you can see what is happening in the Church today. He is purifying the Church, he is working on her, he does not lie, he will come back as promised,” he assured.
The cleric however advised Nigerians that the focus of the celebration must be on Jesus and nothing more. “My personal message for people celebrating is that celebration of the birth of Jesus should have a focus, it is about Jesus anything outside that is wrong. You don’t idolise Christmas celebration, it is for sober reflection, not just for drinking, eating and partying like people do today,” he said.

He ended that, “Christmas is for a sober reflection according to John 3:16. The main purpose of Christmas is for the entire world to know that Jesus came into this world to safe us and those who have not met him should repent and think about him and those already saved through him should remember he is returning.”
