The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned President Muhammadu Buhari over what it described as harmful consequences of his alleged negative statements of the Nigerian economy, a local radio station, Rhythms 93.7fm has reported.
The President was published in a national daily newspaper two days earlier as saying the country is broke and cannot afford to pay federal ministers.
Meanwhile, the office of the President has answered the PDP, stating that President Buhari will not at any time fail to tell Nigerians and the world at large the truth about the true state of the Nigerian economy.
The Presidency also stated that the nation’s economy was supposedly plundered by the ousted PDP government, which had controlled the Federal Government since the return of democracy in 1999.
However, the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has urged the civil society organisations in the country to contribute to the rebuilding, reconstruction and resettlement of the victims of terror attacks in the country.
The north eastern geo political zone has been worst affected by terrorism over the years. The region’s economic and social life have been hampered.
While the Nigerian military battles the insurgents, terrorism is another factor affecting the national economy. The contribution of the affected states to the national economy, especially in terms of agriculture has dwindled over time and would need massive reconstruction after the terrorist must have been finally smoked out.
