Nigerians have condemned yet another series of terrorists attack in Borno and Adamawa States on Friday.
Worshipers were today, attacked in a bomb blast at the Friday prayers in a Mosque in Jambutu, Yola, Adamawa State.
While rescue efforts continued at the scene of an early bomb blast in a Mosque in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, which had claimed about 18 lives, a young suicide bomber also detonated explosives at about 1:45pm, just before the Jumat service in Yola, killing himself and other worshipers.
According to eyewitness reports, the suicide bomber detonated the bomb close to the Mosque where Muslim faithfuls were assembled for the Jumat service.
Unconfirmed sources said soldiers drafted to the area had fired shots into the air to disperse the crowd, while some of the worshipers retaliated by throwing stones at the soldiers who were seen whipping worshipers with horse whips at the scene of the blasts.
Other eye witnesses said the bomb went off, killing the carrier instantly before he could gain entrance into the worship facility, which would have killed more worshipers.
As at the time of filing this report, many of the victims are in urgent need of blood at the Specialist hospital in Yola.
According to the Public Relation Officer of the hospital, Adamu Dodo, who is appealing to blood donours to come to the aid of victims, many of the victims are receiving treatment while others are in need of urgent blood transfusion.
“For now, I can’t say the exact casualty figures of the dead, our concern is to save life, and doctors are working assiduously to treat those with critical condition,’’ Dodo said.
