From Mecca, Saudi Arabia, came the sad news that a Nigerian pilgrim from Kaduna State, Adamu Kargi, has been named among the 107 reported dead when a crane collapsed at the holy site of Ka’aba in Mecca on Friday.
According to the state’s spokesperson of the task force on Hajj, Saidu Adamu, who made the news known in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, the deceased hailed from Kabau Local Government Area of the state.
In a related development, four female pilgrims from Gombe State, were on Sunday declared missing, according to the state’s Amirul-Hajj, Alhaji Abdullahi Mai-Kano.
Another sad news from Plateau State was received this evening as a building in an Islamic school, around Bukuru area of the state collapsed, killing seven pupils.
The pupils, aged about 10 years and above were learning the Koran at the centre, having about 30 pupils when the tragedy struck Sunday evening.
Details of the tragedy are still unfolding as at the time of filing this report.
