Nigerians have been reacting to news of the death of the country’s ambassador to the United States of America, Professor Adebowale Ibidapo Adefuye.
Adefuye died 27th August in Washington DC at 68.
Nigeria’s former Ambassador to Jamaica, was recently recalled from his last duty post by the Federal Government, but was waiting to hand over to a new Ambassador when he died.
The Professor of History was appointed in 2010 to represent Nigeria in Washington by former President Goodluck Jonathan.
From Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State, Adefuye studied at the premier University of Ibadan, where he earned his first degree in 1969 and a PhD in History in 1973. The late Adefuye also studied at the Columbia University, USA.
Reacting to his death, former governor of Lagos State Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in a statement described the late Ambasador’s death as a monumental loss.
The former governor also described Adefuye as a patriot and a man full of ideas.
